The State Fair of West Virginia has announced the awarding of five, $1,000 four-year scholarships to youth who have participated in the State Fair, excelled academically and demonstrated a financial need.
2016 award recipients and the schools they are attending are:
• Devon Alt, Keyser, West Virginia University, Morgantown (Recipient of the fifth annual Gus R. Douglass Scholarship)
• Jordan Beer, Martinsburg, West Virginia University, Morgantown
• Laura Dransfield, Gap Mills, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Clifton Forge, VA
• Alexander Hanna, Renick, New River Community and Technical College, Lewisburg
• Olivia McHale, Lewisburg, West Virginia University, Morgantown
This scholarship is funded through the State Fair Endowment, which was created in 2006 to ensure the long-term support of three key areas; Scholarships Career Advancement Initiatives, Youth Educational Enrichment Programs and Agricultural Competitive Exhibit Premiums.
Scholarships will be awarded during the 2016 State Fair.
