A six-week weight loss challenge is being offered by the Hinton HOPE Foundation (HHF) for Summers, Raleigh, Greenbrier and Mercer and Monroe County residents. With West Virginia listed as the seventh most unhealthy state in 2014, HHF wants to play a part in improving the lives of the citizens in Southern West Virginia.

So far, sponsors include Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital, Bobcat Fitness Center, the YMCA of Southern West Virginia, Pipestem Spa, Cat Stretch Yoga, Greenbrier Valley Fitness, Princeton Health & Fitness, Advocare and Kyani.

There is no fee to enter.

The initial and final weigh-ins will take place at the Bobcat Fitness Center in Hinton. Initial weigh-in is either Saturday, Feb. 28, 3-7 p.m. or Monday, Mar. 2, 4-7 p.m.

The only final weigh-in will be on Apr. 11, 3-7 p.m. You must be present at either one of the initial weigh-ins and the final weigh-in to be eligible to win.

A private group page will be created so that everyone can review useful information to assist with their goals. HHF will have personal trainer videos, recipes, links, etc. to help you lose the weight and get healthy.

The winner – or the Biggest Loser – for each county will receive a prize. The overall winner for all four counties (the person who loses the most weight) will also win a prize. (Monroe County residents will not receive a county prize, however, they are eligible for the grand prize.) Prizes include gym memberships, exercise equipment, books, and more. For more information, please call 304-573-5320.
