Southern States encourages support for local horse clubs

In the spirit of holiday giving, Southern States Cooperative is encouraging its horse feed customers to support horse clubs throughout its territory who participate in the Southern States SHOW (Special Horse Organization Winner’s) Program.

Member clubs and organizations receive cash rewards in exchange for proof of purchase seals from bags of Southern States, Legends and Triple Crown horse feeds. The funds are used to support equestrian activities and events that specifically benefit the horse industry.

Cash rewards of 25 cents for each proof of purchase seal and $10 for each ton of bulk feed are paid by Southern States’ Feed Division directly to the organization.

“Our top 1,000 customers represent more than 630,000 bags of feed and nearly 2,400 tons of bulk feed annually,” said Feed Division Vice President Jim Moore. “That translates into more than $180,000 which could go a long way toward supporting these non-profit horse organizations.”

“No other feed company has supported the horse industry more than Southern States,” explained Jessica Lohman, livestock marketing manager for the cooperative. “We developed the SHOW Program to provide all nonprofit horse associations and clubs with their very own sponsorship tools.”

Response to the program from nonprofit organizations has been positive.

“We count on the proceeds from the SHOW Program to assist us in our yearly activities and programs,” said Scott Mallory, president of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers Club. “The generosity of the farms who participate by donating their proof of purchase seals, and the financial support of Southern States, is vital to our organization.”

For more information about donating to SHOW Program clubs and organizations visit www.southernstates.com/SHOW or your local Southern States feed dealer.
