Facebook has been abuzz the past few weeks with talk of a donut shop coming to Fairlea, Retro Donuts and More, which will be occupying the old When Pigs Fly building next to Burger King.

Owner Arthur Forgette, who also owns the renowned French Goat restaurant in downtown Lewisburg, as well as the bed and breakfast, the Maison Marcel, says that he saw a need for a “casual breakfast and lunch place” in the area, and thought Retro Donuts would fit the bill.

The interior of the business is still in the process of undergoing a total transformation into a picturesque 1960s diner, complete with appropriately dated music, decor, and seating areas. The bubblegum pink and aquamarine blue accents throughout the area sets a feel of a fun and comfortable place to gather and grab a bite to eat.

Retro Donuts and More is set in the 1960s, and that’s apparent from looking at the main seating area inside.

Forgette says that Retro Donuts will serve breakfast sandwiches and bowls, lunch sandwiches, soups, salads, and of course, donuts. There will also be coffee and espresso available to complete that perfect donut-coffee pairing. “I’m excited about the donuts and the food, of course,” said Forgette, “but I’m really most excited about the atmosphere. I think people will really enjoy the theme and being immersed in that 1960s vibe. It’s definitely going to be fun and exciting, and something different.”

There is no opening date set as of now, Forgette recommends following Retro Donuts and More on Facebook to get up-to-date information in coming months as everything comes together. They are also now accepting applications for baristas, counter staff, and kitchen staff. Visit their Facebook page for contact information.
