Four-year contract awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation
The U.S. Department of Transportation has officially selected a new airline to provide Essential Air Service (EAS) at Greenbrier Valley Airport (LWB). SkyWest Airlines will operate American Eagle flights for a four-year term, with the first flights expected to begin in early 2026.
“We’re pleased that the Department of Transportation has made this selection official,” said Martha Livesay, Airport Director. “The Airport Authority supported SkyWest’s proposal for its strong network connectivity and established airline partnerships.”
The new American Eagle flights, operated by SkyWest, will give travelers access to American Airlines’ worldwide route network through its Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport hubs. There will be 12 weekly round-trip flights.
As SkyWest prepares to begin service, the airport is working with the DOT and Contour Airlines, our current provider, to ensure strong service through the transition.
Additional details regarding flight schedules, ticketing, and other service specifics will be announced in the coming weeks.
