Shirley Y. Crews Withrow, 73, passed away on Friday, Apr. 3, 2026, at the CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV. Born Nov. 7, 1952, in Opa-Locka, FL, she was the daughter of the late Richard Crews, Sr. and Bernice Martin Crews.
Shirley retired from The Greenbrier Hotel after working there for many years in housekeeping. She was a member of the Gap Mills United Methodist Church where she was in the United Methodist Women’s group. She loved snowmen, angels, and spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Ray Withrow; sister, Patricia Crews Wykle; and brother, Richard Crews, Jr.
Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her children, Barbara Vandegrift and husband Paul Jr., Sheldon Sears and companion Ashley Shields, Eric Withrow and wife Garnett, and Erica Edwards and companion Calvin Boothe; seven grandchildren, Sheldon Jr., Allie, Joseph, Haley, Audrina, Abby, and Eli; two great-grandchildren, Bethany and James; siblings, Margie (Russell) Jones, Robert (Nancy) Crews, and Brenda Shanklin; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 11, at Groves Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmel Cemetery in Gap Mills, WV. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
