Shanghai Parade winners announced

The annual Shanghai Parade was held Monday, Jan. 1 in downtown Lewisburg before a crowd estimated at 1,000 in 10 degree temperatures. Thirty-six entries formed the parade. The winning entries were as follows:

  • Antique Car – 1st place, #14 Jerry Vance, ‘48 Plymoth Coup; 2nd place, #23 Robin Schleiff, ‘81 Rabbit pickup; 3rd place, #25 Martin Schleiff, ‘53 International
  • Best Dressed Farm Equipment – 1st place, #10 Lindsey Sears / Chester Loudermilk, ‘52 Ford
  • Float – 1st place, #28 The French Goat; 2nd place, #30 Gean & Mary Beard, 65th Wedding Anniversary; 3rd place, #18 Greenbrier United Soccer Team, 30th Shanghai Parade
  • Specialty – 1st place, #27 Fairlea Fire Dept. EMS Truck 4519; 2nd place, #26 Radio Greenbrier Oldies 93; 3rd place, #35 Lewisburg Fire Dept. Engine 2010
  • Walkers (1-2 persons) – 1st place, #24 The Lovable Donald; 2nd place, #16 Sen. Ojeda Congressional Candidate
  • Walkers 3+ persons) – 1st place tie, #31 The Beardsy Bunch – Onesie Nation and #32 Greenbrier East Basketball
  • Joe Ellis Memorial Tradition Prize – #25 Martin Schleiff, ‘53 International
  • Mary Satterfield Spirit of Shanghai Award – #19 Charlie & Friends
  • Chairman’s Award – #28 The French Goat
  • Jim Wills Memorial Award – #4 Chally Erb / Beth White – Volunteers of the Year
  • Oldest Participant – #9 Louise Legg – Lazy L Farms (2/12/27)
  • Youngest Participant – #17 Ansley McDaniel – Steeler Fan Club (14 months old)
  • Super Duper Pooper Scooper – Bill Satterfield
  • Judges – Judy Lohmeyer, community volunteer Alderson; Rich Lohmeyer, Lutheran pastor / community volunteer Alderson; Pat Margolin; Stuart Margolin, actor, writer, producer; Gary Michael McComas, president of Applachian Electronics
