Local home gardeners are invited to participate in the third annual Seed Exchange, a free community event that promotes the sharing of non-GMO, non-hybrid seeds. The exchange will be held Sunday, Apr. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon, or until supplies run out, at the historic General Lewis Inn, located at 1236 E. Washington St.
Organized by Karen Cohen of Nature’s Way, the event encourages participants to bring perennial plants, starter plants and vegetable or flower seeds to trade. All exchanges are free of charge.
Seeds should be stored in paper envelopes rather than plastic bags. Live plants are welcome if contained in small pots of soil or plastic bags.
The event is sponsored by High Mowing Organic Seeds and the General Lewis Inn, which will also be open for brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are recommended.
Visitors are asked not to park in the front area of the Inn. A back entrance on Foster Street will be available for parking and access to the backyard terrace where the seed exchange will take place.
