Carnegie Hall’s Second Stage Series will present West Virginia Songwriters in the Round on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Old Stone Room. This special evening invites audiences into an intimate, in-the-round performance featuring three standout West Virginia artists whose songwriting reflects the depth, diversity, and storytelling spirit of the Mountain State.

The program showcases Ron Sowell, longtime music director of NPR’s Mountain Stage and a celebrated singer-songwriter whose career spans decades of touring, recording, and collaboration. His warm presence and finely crafted songs offer a rich portrait of a life dedicated to music.

Joining him is Mary Dailey, a performer and teaching artist whose songwriting is rooted in Appalachian tradition and shaped by folk ballads and Celtic influences. As half of the duo Lark in the Holler, she brings a timeless, personal connection to the region’s musical heritage.

Rounding out the trio is Aristotle Jones, widely known as the “Appalachian Soul Man,” whose blend of soul, folk, blues, and mountain roots honors the often overlooked stories of Black Appalachian musicians. His music carries forward a legacy of resilience, groove, and cultural pride.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students, with general admission seating. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for Club Carnegie, sponsored by Smooth Ambler, open from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and offering a cash bar and light snacks. Carnegie Hall also provides discounts for members, seniors, military, and students. Thanks to the Carnegie Cardinal Fund, Greenbrier County students in grades K-12 receive free entry while funds last.

For tickets, more information, or to take advantage of the discounts that are available contact the Box Office at 304-645-7917, visit www.carnegiehallwv.org, or stop by at 611 Church Street, Lewisburg. Carnegie Hall Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
