From Mar. 15 through Mar. 17, the Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center Sea Dragons participated in the WV Short Course State Championship swim meet in Morgantown where they competed against 17 teams and more than 240 swimmers.
Sea Dragons who scored team points by placing in the top eight were Dolly Knight, Lennie Taylor, Zoey Hobbs, and Mary Taylor (4th place in the 8 & Under 200Y Medley Relay), Emily Hobbs (6th place in the 11-12 500Y Free and 8th place in the 11-12 100Y Free), Zoey Hobbs (6th place in the 8 & Under 200Y Free), Ben Kelso (8th Place in the 13-14 200Y Breast), Solomon Rodebaugh (6th place in the 8 & Under 100Y Back), Lennie Taylor (8th Place in the 8 & Under 200Y Free and 8th Place in the 8 & Under 100Y Breast).
Finals qualifiers, the Top 16 in the 11 & Over Age Groups category, were Emily Hobss (100Y IM, 50Y Free, 200Y IM, 100Y Free), Cooper Homer (200Y Free, 100Y Fly, 50Y Free), Ben Kelso (200Y Breast), and Adelyn Wallington (50Y Back, 100Y IM, 200Y Back, 100Y Back). There were 48 personal best times and new team records were set by 12 swimmers.
We are very proud of our swimmers who worked extremely hard to prepare for States and did amazingly well. The Sea Dragons greatly appreciate all of the support they have received from the community. They had a wonderful winter season, and we are excited to see what the future brings!
