For the 22nd consecutive year, Gateway Industries Inc. will celebrate Derby Day, Run for the Roses.
Derby Day allows local area residents and many individuals from out of state to enjoy a day at the races and show off their Derby hats and fine attire. Attendees will enjoy a great meal while watching the Kentucky Derby at the West Virginia State Fair Grounds on big screen televisions set up throughout the event venue.
Derby Day is Gateway’s annual fundraiser and helps to support the organization’s mission of providing services to individuals with disabilities to prepare for competitive employment opportunities in integrated work settings alongside non-disabled co-workers. Funds raised also go towards the Gateway building fund. This year’s event, as always, will take place on the first Saturday in May and once again, they anticipate it will be a huge success.
Each year, the Gateway staff, board of directors and volunteers continue to find ways to make the event more enjoyable. Attendees participate in a stellar silent auction and win wonderful door prizes as they cheer for their favorite horses to cross the finish line. There is also live music provided by Richard Hefner and the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys
Derby Day is not just a fundraiser; it is truly a celebration of a community coming together to help its own. The staff, board and clients of Gateway thank those that attend and contribute in many wonderful ways to make this event bigger and better every year.
If you can, Gateway is requesting sponsorships that will assist them in our fundraising effort, and donations of goods or services to include in their silent auction; or you can purchase an advertisement that will be displayed by digital imaging on large screen TVs throughout the venue. Any and all support will be greatly appreciated. Gateway Industries, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), making your donations tax deductible. If you wish to sponsor Derby Day, or donate something for our silent auction, or to place an ad for digital imaging, please contact Aiyetoro Bakari at Gateway Industries Inc., 787 Edgar Avenue, Ronceverte, WV 24970 or call 304-645-3165.
Tickets for this fabulous event are available at the door or in advance at the Gateway office located at 787 East Edgar Avenue in Ronceverte. Tickets are $35. To purchase tickets in advance or for additional information call 304-645-3165.
