Ruth Evelyn Helmick, 85, of Lawn, went to her eternal home in Heaven, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, following a short illness.

Born July 9, 1939, at Lawn, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Esta (Cadle) Hutsenpillar.

Ruth was a 1958 graduate of Smoot High School. She worked in many places during her lifetime, still working at Walmart for the last 15 years. Ruth had such an impact on those she worked with, and they really cared about her. She will be greatly missed. Ruth was a faithful, lifelong member of the Meadow Grove Baptist Church, Dawson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Helmick, brother Jesse Hutsenpillar, and a very special nephew, Danny Hutsenpillar.

Survivors include two sisters Frances Lepley (Charles) of Dawson and Virginia Babcock (Al) of Washington Township, Michigan; a great aunt Loretta Cadle of Grassy Meadows; five furry cat babies; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the Meadow Grove Baptist Church, Dawson, with Pastor Vince Deeds and Pastor Billy Pate officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call one hour before the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Online condolences may be shared at www.smathersfuneralchapelinc.com.

Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to have been entrusted to care for Ruth and her family during their time of need.
