The Rupert Area Improvement Council will host their annual Country Fling at the Rupert Community Building on Sept. 13 and 14. The schedule of events is as follows:
Friday, Sept. 13:
5 p.m.: Pet Parade
5:30 p.m.: Little Mister and Miss Country Fling Crowning
Saturday, Sept. 14:
11:30 a.m./1 p.m./3 p.m.: 50/50 drawings
9 a.m.: Parade lineup at the Rupert Service Center. Anything that rolls contest lineup at the Western Greenbrier Pharmacy
10 a.m.: Parade
11 a.m.: Car Show at City National Bank, $20 per entry, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. Judging at 1 p.m.
11 a.m.: Games at the Community Building, inside and out. Tickets are five for $1, wristbands for $10, ends at 2 p.m. Outdoor craft vendors in the parking lot, $15/vendor, must provide own table, limited availability, contact Sandi Davison at 304-392-5502. There will be hot dogs, chili, slaw, ketchup, mustard, and onions for $3 each or two for $5.
12 noon: Cornhole tournament at Frontier Building and Handy Place, cash prizes, $25 per team.
1 p.m.: Mullet contest, $10 per entry, prizes for longest, tallest, and curliest. All entries must be on site by 1 p.m. for the largest zucchini contest, most original fall arrangement contest, and the pie and cake contest followed by auction. Chair-i-ty auction event, raffle drawing, need not be present to win.
4 p.m.: Baked steak dinner, $14 per meal, served with mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert, and drink raffle.
