On Sept. 14 and 15 the Droop Mountain Artisans will host a two-day event where you can find local artisans and crafters gathered together to share their artwork and the process of bringing their creations to life. Please join us from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day where we will be at three different sites along Route 219: The Mountain Table in Renick, the Hillsboro library friends at the school cafeteria in Hillsboro and a broom-making studio as well as a blacksmith studio at BrenWood Forge and Broom near Hillsboro.

Now an annual event, the Droop Mountain Artisan Tour started out as a creative concept by a broom maker and a blacksmith. It had a two-fold purpose. The first was to encourage local artists to share the beauty and creativity of the varied traditional arts and crafts found in the Droop Mountain area. The second purpose was to allow art enthusiasts to have a strong sense of connection with the creator when purchasing artwork that they love. But best of all, a studio visit is a fun invite to see the conceptual parts of an artist’s practice, as well as production specifics, as they make the work they do. Make it a weekend you’ll enjoy! Come discover new and old Appalachian crafts and the stories and people behind the crafts. We hope to see you there.
