Lewisburg-Roy E. Riddell, also known as Butch passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, Apr. 20, 2019, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Butch was born on Jan. 13, 1945, in Alderson. He was the son of Emma Ballard and stepfather, Leonard Ballard.

He attended Alderson High School. He married Audrey (Burns) Riddell on Oct 14, 1966, and dedicated his life to providing for his family. Butch worked at Acme Limestone from 1965-1967 then went on to Mead Westvaco in 1967 where he retired in 2007 after 39 years of service.

Butch was musically inclined and could play any instrument by ear. He had a peaceful temperament and a wonderful sense of humor; a characteristic that touched the lives of his family and friends.

Butch is survived by his wife, Audrey, of 52 years; three children, Virgil Eugene of Frankford, Carla (Tommy) Bradley of Alderson, and Michael of Alderson; and eight-grandchildren, Michael (Chelsea) Riddell of Alderson, Courtney (AJ) Ringstaff of Fairmont, Whitney Bradley, Shawn Riddell, Makayla Riddell, Dustin Bradley of Alderson, Jamie Riddell of Fairmont, and Kynleigh Archer of Talcott.

Butch’s body has been donated to the West Virginia University Medical School of Morgantown.

Friends and Family are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, Apr. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at his home in Alderson.

Wallace & Wallacce Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
