The Recitation of the Rosary will be held each Sunday during October at 5 p.m. in the historic St. John, the Evangelist, Catholic Church in Sweet Springs.
Lead by members of the Alleghany Highlands Council 8689, Knights of Columbus, the Rosary Recitations are being held during the month of October to take the place of the ones normally held during the months of June and July.
“We normally hold Rosary Recitations on Sundays during the months of June and July but this year, the restoration of the chapel was underway and the chapel was inaccessible,” explained Perk Berry of White Sulphur Springs, grand knight of Council 8689.
The church is located at the intersection of WV/VA 311 and WV 3 in the village of Sweet Springs, Monroe County, and the public is invited to attend the Rosary Recitations.
Serving Greenbrier, Monroe, Pocahontas, Alleghany and Bath counties, the Alleghany Highlands Council Knights of Columbus is the only Catholic men’s organization in that five-county area and the Council includes the Pocahontas County Roundtable.
The Alleghany Highlands Council meets on the second and fourth Sundays at 6 p.m. at St. Louis, King of France, Catholic Church on Coleman Dr. in Lewisburg, behind Shoney’s and the motels.
