The Ronceverte Woman’s Club held their monthly meeting on Sept. 23 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. The evening’s program featured two guest speakers. The first speaker was GEHS student Ella Essig-Beatty whom the RWC sponsored for a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar. Founded in 1958, HOBY is a nonprofit youth leadership development program for high school scholars. Ella thanked the RWC for sponsoring her and shared many exciting activities that she enjoyed during her week at HOBY. A highlight of her week was meeting Hugh O’Brian in person.
The second speaker was EGMS student Zoe Sampson whom the RWC sponsored for the Junior Conservation Camp held at Cedar Lakes in Ripley each June. Zoe enthusiastically told about her many learning experiences and fun activities at the camp and thanked the RWC for sponsoring her.
In the business session of the meeting, members voted to participate in the Ronceverte Development Corporation’s Halloween Lamp Post Decorating Contest and Halloween Bash set for Oct. 26.
Several members also volunteered to lend a hand to help with the Friends of the Ronceverte Public Library’s annual book sale to be held Oct. 11 and 12 at the Greenbrier Valley Mall.
The club also finalized plans for a yard sale to be held in the Ronceverte Baptist Church parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The next meeting of the RWC will be on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at St. Catherine’s. Anyone interested in attending and perhaps joining the club is invited to attend.
