The Ronceverte City Council held its monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 15. At the start of the meeting, council members reviewed and approved the minutes from the previous month.
Under old business, the council reviewed a revision to the personnel handbook. The only change involved insurance benefits for new hires, reducing employer coverage for family members from 80% to 50%. This change does not affect current employees. The revision was approved by the council.
Next, council members reviewed applications to fill vacant positions on the Zoning and Planning Board of Appeals. Katrina Rutherford and Raymond Erskine were appointed to fill two of the vacancies. One position remains open, and anyone interested is encouraged to contact the City of Ronceverte for more information.
The council then reviewed Resolution No. 11, which authorized payment of invoices related to the design and construction of the stormwater infrastructure project. The invoices included $40,000 to E.L. Robinson Engineering, $6,090 to Spillman, Thomas & Battle, and $26,000 to another vendor, for a total of $67,690. The motion to approve payment was passed.
Under new business, the council reviewed a request from a local church to reserve the shelters for a Penguin Plunge at the Ronceverte River in March 2026. Proceeds from the event will help cover food costs for the church’s monthly free meals. The request was approved by the council.
In other news, a new patrolman for the City of Ronceverte graduated from the police academy and will be sworn in at a later date.
The next council meeting will be held on Jan. 5, 2026.
