This Monday’s Ronceverte City Council meeting began at 7 p.m. with an approval of minutes from a special meeting as well as the last regular council meeting. Following the approval of minutes, Resolution # 5, which is a resolution concerning invoices related to the design and construction of the water upgrade phase 4 project and authorizing payment thereof, was approved by council members. Next, Resolution #6, which is a resolution related to the design and construction of the storm water infrastructure improvements project and authorizing payment, was approved.

Jessica Levine spoke to council members and asked for permission to plant various plants around the park pending grant approval with Sow Bees Initiative. She would hope to do this near the end of August or the beginning of September. The plants would be provided by Appalachian Headwaters, a nonprofit organization. Councilmembers approved the proposal and details will be planned out regarding dates for planting and future maintenance of the plants. Counsel commented on how the park has been flourishing with people over the summer months and citizens were also asked to remember that the park closes at 9 p.m.

The Friday night farmers markets will also be continuing in town from 5 to 7 p.m. through October.

The next Ronceverte City Council meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
