Minneapolis, MN-Robert Christian Parker, 81, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at Minneapolis, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Parker. His mother, Dorothy, was active in West Virginia Garden Clubs and the Wild Flower Pilgrimage at Black Water Falls.
Robert was in management at The Greenbrier Hotel and an officer at Ashford General Hospital in White Sulphur Springs and later manager of Black Knight Country Club in Beckley. As a young man, Chris attended Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg. He served his country in the US Navy, later attending the US Naval Academy. He would go on to earn a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry from West Virginia University. Accomplished in his field as a Chemist, Chris garnered 11 patents during his career. He was a passionate cook, gifted watercolor painter, award winning marksman, and golfer.
He is survived by his loving children, Krisann (and spouse Nicola Evoli) of Minneapolis, MN and Forrest (and spouse Kimberly) Parker of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Susan Harris and Peggy Crowfoot; and three grandchildren, Madeleine Brown, and Justin and Jesse Shafer.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 24 at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Edina, MN, followed by interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Memorials preferred to Minnesota Veterans Home Activities Fund.
