Robert Andrew Nickell

Lewisburg-Robert Andrew Nickell, 75, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, Apr. 12, 2019, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Jo Ann Wood Nickell of 52½ years; his son, Todd (Kristin) of Paris, TN; three grandchildren, Emily Nickell of Ronceverte, and Andrew and Allison Nickell also of Paris, TN; sisters, Nancy Neviser (Howard) of New Bern, NC, Patricia Kranendonk (Brent) of Dunwoody, GA and Kay Wodder (Terry) of Lewisburg; six nephews and six nieces; and a special friend, Lynda Kay Byers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Andrew Nickell, Sr. and Verna Kathleen Clendenin; and infant brother, Charles and and infant sister, Elizabeth.

Bob was a member and deacon at Graystone Baptist church in Fairlea. He was a founding member of the WV Wood Turners Association of Lewisburg.

He was proud to have served two tours in Vietnam fighting for America’s freedom. He was awarded the bronze star. He was a very proud Veteran who loved America.

Bob was owner of the Harts Run Exxon for 22 years. He was owner of Bob Nickell Auto in Lewisburg for six years before retiring in 2012.

Services were held Monday, Apr. 15, at Graystone Baptist Church where his Pastor and friend, Pastor Youel Altizer, officiated.

Visitation for Bob was Monday evening, Apr. 15, at the church.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Apr. 16, at the Huse Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Graystone Baptist Church Building Fund, 249 Skylar Dr., Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
