The Richlands Ruritans met at 7 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the Calvary Methodist Church in Richlands. The meeting was a business meeting and was highlighted by the installation of the new officers for 2021. The installation ceremony was conducted by Frank Tuckwiller, the Lieutenant Governor of the Lower West Virginia Ruritans District. The new officers were Steve Harris, President, Cliff Gillilan, Vice President, Jack Tuckwiller, Secretary, and Lucy Refsland, Treasurer. Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic the members wore face masks and practiced social distancing.\r\n\r\nFurther business was conducted to prepare speakers for future meetings, to approve the treasurer\u2019s report for the year 2020, and outline future activities.\r\n\r\nThe Richlands Ruritans club meets on the second Wednesday of each month for a dinner meeting at the Calvary Methodist Church on Route 60W. The Ruritan Civic organization is a national network of clubs working together for a stronger America. The Ruritans\u2019 focus is to support community services in small towns and rural communities across America. The Ruritans were founded in 1928 in Holland, Virginia and celebrated their 92nd year last May. The Richlands Ruritans Club provides scholarships to local college students and 4-H campers and maintains Tuckwiller Park.
