GreenSheen paint is available in many colors, and is available at the Lewisburg ReStore.

As the holiday season approaches, many choose to participate in volunteer work through organizations in their community.

Habitat for Humanity is one such group that works hard to make a difference in the area by building and renovating houses and creating homeownership opportunities for low-income families in the region. Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity has 23 years of service in partnership with families in eastern West Virginia, and has built and sold over 110 houses since 1989. Through the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, even more people are able to benefit from Habitat’s services.

Offering furniture and appliances at affordable prices, the ReStore also sells donated building materials and home items to raise money for the construction of Habitat homes in Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties.

“Furniture is what we sell the most of,” according to Executive Director Lori Green. The store has been freshly stocked with a truckload of washers and dryers earlier this week, and has refrigerators, couches, and more available for purchase.

An interesting new item available at the ReStore is GreenSheen eco-friendly paint, which is made out of recycled latex paint. Through a reclamation process, they produce environmentally friendly house paint that is good for use both inside and out on walls, ceilings, and trim. Available in a wide range of colors and with a lower price tag than name brand paint, GreenSheen is a good option for those not wanting to blow the bank while freshening up their house.

Anyone wanting make a tax-deductible donation can do so at the store, which is located at 1431 North Jefferson Street, Lewisburg. The ReStore accepts counter tops, cabinet sets, tables, desks, furniture for homes and offices, siding, soffit, fascia, lumber, building materials, flooring, lighting and electrical supplies, doors, windows, tools, hardware, appliances five years old and newer, roofing materials, gutters, home decor, store fixtures, plumbing and bath fixtures, bathtubs, and toilets. However, they do not accept electronics, stained or damaged upholstery, mattresses, box springs, or clothes.

Those wanting to volunteer can call the store at 304-647-1359 to ask about current volunteer opportunities. Follow the ReStore at @WSSReStore on Facebook to receive current updates about inventory, hours, and more.
