Dear Editor:
Kudos to Greg Zafros of Lewisburg for simply “telling it like it is.” GOP no longer stands for the Grand Old Party of Lincoln & Eisenhower. Instead, it stands for the Great Opposition Party of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio – leaders of the ongoing movement to smear President Obama up one side and down another.
Sadly, Mr. Zafros is also absolutely correct when identifies the root cause – good, old-fashion, homegrown American racism. Just another example of 400 years of American “exceptionalism.”
Mr. Zafros used the term “crackpot” to identify the far right conservatives who unleashed a despicable campaign to undermine our first black President right from the start. On this point Mr. Zafros was far too kind. I think the term “whackos” is closer to the truth.
To all those who have supported this ugly, baseless campaign to undermine the Presidency of Barack Obama I can think of only one thing more to say … “Have you no shame?”
