The West Virginia Renaissance Festival will honor veterans, active duty military, and first responders with free admission on our opening weekend, June 7 and 8. Please bring proper identification to confirm your affiliation and ensure free entry. We thank you for your service and look forward to seeing you!

We’re also recognizing medical personnel with 50% off admission each weekend of the festival.

Now in its seventh season, the West Virginia Renaissance Festival runs every weekend in June starting June 7. Each weekend features a unique theme:

June 7-8: Celtic Crossing

June 14-15: Pirates Landing

June 21-22: Vikings Valhalla

June 28-29: Bacchanalia (come show off your toga in our masked costume contest!)

Located just a mile and a half off Exit 161 on I-64 near scenic Lewisburg, this outdoor, family-friendly festival offers ample space to enjoy live music, delicious food, and six stages of continuous entertainment. Special family discounts are available.

With acres to explore, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a day outdoors as you step back in time. Experience live jousting, where armored knights on horseback compete for glory, or cheer on swordplay duels. For a more relaxing time, enjoy the sound of bagpipes and drums echoing through the valley, or listen to harpists performing in quiet, wooded corners.

Renaissance festivals have a rich, nationwide tradition spanning over 50 years. Ours is the first to be permanently located in West Virginia. The founders, veterans of similar festivals across the U.S., have brought the best to showcase here – believing our rich mountain heritage is the ideal setting for this celebration of historical life.

Animals play a big role in the festival, from a petting farm for kids of all ages to the thrilling jousting matches. There are also medieval games of skill for everyone to enjoy.

Expect a variety of demonstrations throughout the festival, including glassblowing and the Knight Wings falconry show with Master Falconer Ash Cary. From daring aerial acts to comedy, sword swallowing, and juggling, the entertainment is fit for a king’s court. Costumed characters engage with guests, and mermaids, dragons, and unicorns step out of legend to come to life – don’t miss unicorn and warhorse rides!

The festival proudly features local West Virginia brews, ciders, and meads, and offers food to satisfy every taste. Be sure to visit our artisan vendors selling and demonstrating handmade crafts – perfect for a souvenir or a unique gift for your home. The West Virginia Renaissance Festival is here to stay, and we’re excited to collaborate with local actors, artists, crafters, farmers, musicians, and more to showcase the amazing talent and high-quality goods our state offers. Interested vendors can apply online.

The Festival will be open every weekend in June, Saturday and Sunday only, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and is located less than a mile and a half off Exit 161 on I-64 near scenic Lewisburg. Information, schedules, and tickets can be found on Facebook and at wvrenfest.com. It’s handicap accessible for the most part, with some inclines requiring assistance. Whether you come as costumed or just comfortable, be prepared to have fun!
