The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded a $3,500 grant to the Rainelle Medical Center to help fund the organization’s Toys for Tots program.
According to Mary Surbaugh, marketing coordinator for the Center. Toys for Tots is an important offering for many of the students in the Greenbrier area. The funds will be used to maintain the Toy for Tots program and bring some Christmas cheer to impoverished families.
“We are honored to be able to provide gifts to families that would otherwise have nothing under the tree,” said Surbaugh. “Thanks to the Plum Creek Foundation, we can continue to serve in excess of 2,000 children in need in the area.”
Additional funds for the project were provided by the Hollowell Foundation, the Mary B. Nickel Foundation and a very generous anonymous donor.
The Rainelle Medical Center is currently concluding its fundraising efforts, including toy drives. Gifts will be given to children just prior to Christmas day and any leftover gifts will be donated.
The mission of the Rainelle Medical Center is to promote individual and community wellness through quality health services and educational information to the medically underserved in its rural area. For more information about the Rainelle Medical Center, visit www.rmchealth.org.
