The Greenbrier Valley-Alderson Quilt Guild held a Quilts of Valor presentation at the Edgewood Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg on Sunday, May 31. Ten veterans received beautiful, red, white, and blue patriotic quilts and a certificate of valor in recognition of their dedicated military service to the United States of America.
Amber Hinkle offered a prayer of appreciation, support and thanks for all military service personnel. Nan Shetterly made the presentations, assisted by Nadine Wykle and Ann Rapp. Grace Boxwell, Chair of the Guild’s QOV Committee, was thanked for providing oversight in coordinating the construction of the quilts and organizing the presentation ceremony and refreshments.
The Guild has 40 members who helped with all aspects of each quilt’s assembly. Over 70 family members, friends and Guild members attended the event to honor the ten veterans for their dedication. Statistical information noted nationwide 2,294 quilts were presented in April, 8,704year-to-date, and 444,683 since the Quilts of Valor Foundation was created in 2003.
The Guild routinely meets or holds class at 10 a.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at Edgewood Presbyterian Church. We welcome new members. For additional information email gvaldersonquiltguild@gmail.com.
