The community is invited to join in a momentous occasion as we break ground on the Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center. The ceremony will take place at 481 Pocahontas Trail, White Sulphur Springs, on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 4 p.m.
This event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for families in Greenbrier Valley and the surrounding area. The Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center is envisioned as a hub for recreation, connection, and growth, offering a wide range of activities and programs for visitors of all ages.
All members of the public are warmly invited to come out and celebrate this happy occasion. The ceremony will feature remarks from local leaders and project organizers, and will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the plans for the center and its positive impact on the region.
Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this special day as we lay the foundation for a brighter, more active future in Greenbrier Valley.
The Family Activity Center is a cross-sector collaboration between a passionate volunteer board and the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation with support and assistance from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Center will offer kids, families and seniors a safe place to improve their health and wellness by offering year-round access to a gymnasium that supports baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, pickleball and an indoor track; after school programs and activities; senior activities, family wellness and health coaching programs; indoor activities, as well as rentable space for private parties, classes, and gatherings.
Construction of the facility will be fully funded by private donors and grantmaking organizations. The Greenbrier Community Foundation serves as the fiscal partner for this project – all finances will be handled by the Community Foundation and will be transparent as the project continues. The facility will operate independently with operating expenses coming from annual fundraisers, facility rental fees, grants, and membership dues. Residents will not be turned away from inability to pay. Based on income, the GVFAC Commission will offer financial assistance to those who need it to ensure access to the facility.
