April meeting of Progressive CEOS: Colleen Walton (left), Patty Gray, Elsie Dunkle, Betty Jo McNeel, Lynn Humphreys, and Sally Holliday

Members of the Progressive CEOS met at the WVU Extension Office on Tuesday, Apr. 8. President Patty Gray opened the meeting with a meditation and thanked all members for their attendance.

Treasurer’s report was given by Lynn Humphreys, reporting a balance of $277.38. Minutes of last month’s meeting were read by Secretary Betty Jo McNeel, and approved.

Patty Gray reminded all members to keep a record of their volunteer hours to be reported at a later meeting.

Health Motivator Tips were given by Betty Jo McNeel on milk allergy. While milk allergies are rare in adults, lactose intolerance can happen at any age. The only way to prevent an allergic reaction to milk is to avoid it and products containing milk.

Patty Gray reported that Achievement Day will be Tuesday, May 20, at White Sulphur Springs Union Hall, registration fee will be $10 and the title of the program will be “Bee-Kind.” Activity will be to visit the Salt Cave, for those interested. Sally Holliday will bring a breakfast item. Patty Gray and Elsie Dunkle will bring door prizes.

President Patty Gray presented Colleen Walton with a certificate of membership in the CEOS for 60 years.

A very detailed and informative program was presented by Lynn Humphreys on Emergency Preparedness 101: Plan, Prepare, Prevail. Lynn stated important information on what items are needed to have on hand for a disaster kit, along with several optional emergency kits. Also be prepared and have a list of important things to grab should there be a need to evacuate.

Refreshments were served by hostess Lynn Humphreys to members Elsie Dunkle, Patty Gray, Sally Holliday, Betty Jo McNeel, and Colleen Walton.

The next meeting will be May 13 at the residence of Patty Gray. The lesson will be about Mail Pouch Barns.
