The following statement is being issued by the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the West Virginia State Police regarding an ongoing missing person investigation:
Law enforcement agencies conducted a coordinated search operation on Tuesday, May 19, in a wooded area of Greenbrier County in connection with the investigation.
During the operation, investigators located possible human remains. The scene is currently being processed by the West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Team with assistance from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department and additional law enforcement personnel.
The remains have been submitted to the West Virginia State Police Crime Laboratory and Marshall University for forensic examination and identification.
This investigation remains active and ongoing. At this stage, no additional information will be released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will continue to work closely with investigating agencies as the investigation proceeds.
