Plants Etc, in downtown Lewisburg is pleased to invite all to an art opening on November First Friday, with the work of Magnord, a Haitian paper mâché artist. The very talented Magnord is a wonderful colorist; his creatures are joyfully painted and highly detailed in their realism. The story of getting the work from Magnord’s studio to Plants Etc is many layered, like making paper mâché. It began when GROW Project participants Julian and Jessica Levine and Meike Schleiff met Magnord while working with a school in the Bwa Nef community, a poor beyond poor neighborhood in Port-au-Prince.
Please come out on Friday, Nov. 1 and see the marvelous paper mâché creatures, including frogs, fish and geckos. Share delicious Haitian treats and hear the inspiring story of how Magnord’s work came to be for sale at Plants Etc. Fantastic photographs from the Haiti trip will be on display on First Friday and are available for a donation, which goes directly to the Bwa Nef Community school.
