Peggy Marie VanBuren

Ronceverte-Peggy Marie VanBuren, 81, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

She was born May 22, 1933, at Pickaway, a daughter of the late Robert Ward and Mary Louise Dunbar Rutherford.

Peggy retired from Greenbrier Center and formerly worked at Burlington Mills. She loved babysitting children which she did for years, lovingly known as “Nonna.” She graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1950.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Sue Handley.

Survivors include: her husband of 61 years, Norman VanBuren; daughter, Juanita Stone of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Gabe (Katie) Stone, Jason Stone, C.J. (Hillary) Handley and Shelby Handley; great-grandchildren Jara and Jasmine Stone and Kaden and Myla Stone; and son-in-law, Bill Handley and wife Susie.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery at Organ Cave, where Bro. Roy Massie, Jr. and Pastor Jonathan Thomas officiated.

A visitation was held Tuesday evening, Jan. 20, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, 502 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte, WV 24970.

Pallbearers were: Gabe Stone, Jason Stone, C.J. Handley, Shelby Handley, Bill Handley and Bill Stone.
