Oscar Ray

Gillsville-Oscar (Bud) Ray, age 78, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, in Destin, Florida.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Priscilla Pruitt will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 10 from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ray was born on May 25, 1935, in Marfrance, to the late Able Myles Ray and Julia Jarvis.

On July 15, 1957, he married the love of his life, Vader (Giles) Ray in Charleston, SC. They were married for 52 years when Vader passed away in 2009. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and served honorably as a flight engineer during the Korean and Vietnam War.

Mr. Ray is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Penny Ray of Kansas City, MO and Jeffrey and Jennine Ray of Destin, FL; grandchildren, Brandon Ray, Megan Agnor, Garrett “Dusty” Ray, Karoline Starr, Gregor “Beau” Scafide; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Eugene Ray of West Virginia.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.
