Orville Aaron Boone

Organ Cave-Orville Aaron “Otie” Boone, 72, formerly of Alderson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at The Springs Nursing Center, Hot Springs, VA, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born June 21, 1942, at Judson, WV, he was the son of the late Perry Newton and Neva Harris Boone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Mr. Boone retired from Applied Extrusion Technologies, Inc., formerly Hercules, Inc. in Covington, VA, retiring in 2009 after 45 years of service. He was a 1960 graduate of Talcott High School, Talcott, and served six years in the West Virginia Army National Guard, having served as Sergeant and was a sharpshooter. Mr. Boone attended the Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church, Caldwell, and formerly attended the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Alderson. He was an avid horseshoe player and enjoyed playing in horseshoe tournaments, enjoyed working with horses, and spending time outdoors. Mr. Boone was extremely devoted to his work and would do anything for anyone, but above all, will always be remembered for being the kind hearted person he was.

Survivors include: his loving wife and soul mate, Lola Lewis Boone of Organ Cave; son, Mikel Boone and wife Kathy of Ripley; a stepdaughter, who was very dear to him, Angie Level Shaffier and husband Kirk of Rockville, VA; three stepsons, Billy Level and wife MaryAnn of Organ Cave, Danny Level of Caldwell and Barry Level of Organ Cave; two brothers, J.W. Boone of Saluda, VA and Norman Boone and wife Glenna of Millersburg, OH; six step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, where the Rev. Sam Groves officiated. Burial will follow in Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.

Friends called at the funeral home before the service on Sunday.

Family served as pallbearers.
