Lewisburg-Oneta Velda Martin, 88, formerly of Rainelle, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, after a long illness.

Born Dec. 7, 1925, in Crichton, she was the daughter of the late Homer W. Martin and Vera Olive Martin.

She attended Crichton School, was a homemaker, and of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: son, Kenny Ray Chrisman; grandson, Bunny Keith Tinsley; her husbands, Charles A. Burke, Alban Lee Chrisman and Thompson W. (Tom) Martin; and special companion, Walter “Boe” Bowyer.

Survivors include: six daughters, Drema Dufault of Charleston, Marcia Waselchalk (Joe) of Fairlea, Susan Bowyer (Frank) of Leslie, Betsy Bevins (Ronald) of Marfrance, Karla Jo Burns of Rainelle and Denise Aleknas (John) of Magaheysville, VA; two sons, Bobby Lee Martin (Sharon) of McCross and Charles W. “Doonie” Burke (Joyce) of Lewisburg; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Toynette Martin of Baltimore, MD.

Per her wishes, the body will be cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date.

Donations of sympathy may be made to the Peyton Hospice House, 223 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
