Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc., a nonprofit organization assisting disadvantaged, homeless and/or low income people in Greenbrier County, has been approved for the ninth consecutive year by the West Virginia Community Development Office to participate in the Neighborhood Investment Program (N.I.P.).

The program was established by the WV Legislature to increase charitable giving to local nonprofit entities such as Wellspring, and allows for the distribution of tax credit vouchers to businesses and individuals who donate at least $500 in one lump sum.

Businesses and individuals who donate to Wellspring are eligible to receive 50 percent of the contributed amount in the form of state tax credits which may be used to reduce tax liability, and may be spread over a five-year period. Donors may use the credits to reduce liability for the following West Virginia taxes:

• Corporate Net Income Tax

• Business Franchise Tax

• Personal Income Tax

The process is simple. Simply mail a check in the amount of $500 or more to Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc. Make sure your address is correct. A credit voucher will be mailed back to you for use when paying your taxes. For additional information or questions, please contact Fred or Scarlett Kellerman at 304-392-2095 or email to wellspring@suddenlinkmail.com.

Checks may be mailed to Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc., P.O. Box 43, Rupert, WV 25984.
