The New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education will offer a variety of photography classes this fall.

A four-session Digital Photography course will be offered in Lewisburg, Beckley and Marlinton, and a one-session Nature Photography class will be offered in Summersville. Summersville-based photographer and teacher Mark Romano is the instructor for all classes.

The Digital Photography course is ideal for beginners as well as those who have some experience. Students will learn about basic and advanced camera functions, how to utilize functions for best results, how to use lighting, how to identify and highlight subject matter and tips and tricks to improve your work. The course also will cover the basics of the photography industry and how to get started.

Digital Photography will be offered in Beckley Sept. 4, 5, 9 and 12; in Marlinton Sept. 16, 19, 25 and 26 ; and in Lewisburg on Sept. 30 and Oct. 3, 7 and 10. The hours are 5-9 p.m. at each location. Tuition is $150. Pre-registration is required.

As part of New River’s Master Naturalist program a one-session Nature Photography class will be offered Monday, Sept. 23, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the New River CTC Office of Workforce Education, 830 Northside Drive in Summersville.

While this class is part of the Master Naturalist program, it is open to anyone who desires to learn more about photographing nature. Students will learn some photography basics as well as how to best capture various elements of nature. Tuition is $25, and pre-registration is required as there is limited availability. This class is expected to fill quickly.

To register or learn more about the courses or any of the Community Education courses being offered this fall, please contact the Office of Workforce Education at 304-883-2446.
