Students at the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College in Lewisburg are planning fundraising events on Oct. 11 and 12 to help their fellow students.
On Friday, Oct. 11, the students and staff of the School of Cosmetology will contribute at least half of the fees from that day’s services to the public to support GVC student Drew Comer of Peterstown who is undergoing treatments for brain cancer.
The full range of cosmetology services, from manicures and pedicures to hair styling and facials, will be offered that day. Services are offered at reduced prices. For an appointment, please call 304-793-3009 to make appointments. Appointments are preferred, although walk-ins are welcome. For that day, only cash and checks will be accepted for the fundraiser.
The next day, Saturday, Oct. 12, students in the School of Practical Nursing will hold a gigantic yard sale at New River’s Lee Street Complex (the former Lewisburg Elementary School) in Lewisburg.
The yard sale will take place rain or shine from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds will be used to help fund the travel expenses of New River practical nursing students to attend clinical programs, graduation expenses and other projects to support the nursing program.
Plenty of parking is available at the Lee Street Complex through the entrance off Greenbrier Road on the south side of the campus of the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine.
