Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 New River Gorge Winter Writer’s Residency in Fayetteville. The chosen writer will have the opportunity to live and work at Lafayette Flats, a luxurious vacation rental in historic downtown Fayetteville from January through March
This is the third year that Lafayette Flats has hosted the Residency. Previous writers-in-residence were Eric Shonkwiler (2015) and Mary Ann Henry (2016). “We were thrilled with our first two writers,” says Lafayette Flats co-owner Shawn Means, “and we look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence that they helped create.”
The residency is open to any writer or scholar with a specific project of literary merit who is committed to full time residence in Fayetteville from Jan. 1 – Mar. 31. More detailed application information can be found at www.lafayetteflats.com/writer-s-residency.html.
The writer will use this time and space to develop their writing skills, to devote time to a particular project, and to assist the owners with their goal of providing an “alternative narrative” about West Virginia. Interested writers can find out more at http://www.lafayetteflats.com/writer-s-residency.html or by emailing staycool@lafayetteflats.com.
