New River Community and Technical College is expanding the number of community and continuing education courses offered at the college’s campuses in Beaver, Lewisburg, Princeton and Summersville this fall, and instructors are needed.
“We already have a number of popular courses planned such as sign language classes in Beaver and Summersville and a taekwondo class in Lewisburg, but there are many other classes that community members have expressed interest in that we’d like to offer,” Workforce Education Program Specialist Gloria Kincaid explained. “So we’re looking for people with knowledge in specific areas and the interest in teaching.”
Community and continuing education classes vary in length from two-hour workshops to 16-week classes, depending on the topic. Examples of classes the college would like to offer are AutoCAD, ballroom dancing, budgeting, candle making, floral arranging, how to make holiday treats, jewelry making and real estate pre-licensing.
Those interested in teaching a course in Lewisburg or Summersville should contact Kincaid at 304-793-6101 or Brian Sampson at 304-929-5009 for courses in Beaver or Princeton.
New River CTC’s Workforce Education Division provides community education classes and employable educational opportunities including noncredit courses, workforce development programs and customized training.
