New River Community and Technical College has announced its newest Board of Governors member, Linda Sumner.
Sumner, a life-long resident of Beckley, is a retired Raleigh County elementary and secondary teacher and a lifetime member of the West Virginia Education Association. Sumner was elected to six terms in the WV House of Delegates, serving on the Education, Rules, LOCEA, Political Subdivisions and Senior Citizen issues committees, as well as Health and Human Resources and Veterans Affairs. She is a graduate of Morris Harvey College with a BA in Elementary Education, Social Studies 1 through 8, and she received her MA in Speech Communication from West Virginia University.
“Ms. Sumner adds a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to our Board of Governors. We appreciate her service and commitment to the College,” said New River CTC President Dr. L. Marshall Washington. “She has supported our College for many years and we are pleased that the Governor appointed her to our Board of Governors to continue in that role.”
