The Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Foundation, through a grant from the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau 2015 Calvin W. Price Appalachian Enrichment Series, presents the 2015 PSBBF Creative Writing Workshops, in keeping with the vision statement of the PSSBF: “To maintain the house and property of the birthplace of Pearl S. Buck and to foster her wish expressed in the book My Mother’s House that it should be a living ‘gateway to new thoughts and dreams and ways of life’ wherein art, music and education are valued and promoted…”

• Apr. 18 – Sarah Elkins – The Gateway Between the Human and Natural Worlds

• June 26 – Rob Merritt – The Gateway Between Eastern and Western Creative Forms

• Sept. 19 – Sherrell Wigal – The Gateway Between Your Story and Your Self.

All workshops will be held at the Sydenstricker Cabin on the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Museum property on Route 219 in Hillsboro, from 1- 4:30 p.m. Beginning, intermediate and advanced writers are welcome and encouraged to attend these free and open-to-the public workshops. Please bring writing materials. Refreshments will be served.

The first event in the series will feature White Sulphur Springs poet Sarah Elkins as workshop leader. Her workshop will focus on expression of a personal connection with the environment.

For more information about the workshops, visit the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace website at pearlsbuckbirthplace.com or visit us on Facebook. Email info@pearlsbuckbirthplace.com or call 304-599-2496.
