The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Greenbrier Valley will hold their support group meeting Thursday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church on Court Street, Lewisburg. The topic will be “Loving Someone with PTSD” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

The presentation will be given by Suzanne Williams and will focus on portions of the book “Loving Someone with PTSD” by Aphrodite T. Matsakis, PhD. Becoming educated about mental illness can be of great use to those living with an individual with one of these illnesses. Presentation and discussions will focus on how communication skills can be modified and improved; tips on managing triggers; and trigger reactions. This information is NOT intended to replace any medical or psychological advice any attendee is currently receiving.

NAMI’s support group meetings are open to the public and are always free. Please come and bring a friend. Meetings are always held on the 3rd Thursday at 6 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Lewisburg. For further information, please call Carol Jones, 304-445-7866 or Suzanne Williams, 304-646-1236.
