Each year NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Greenbrier Valley Affiliate organizes a drive to provide the local libraries with educational books and magazines on mental health issues. This effort is sponsored with the help of a donation from the Greenbrier Hotel’s United Way. The following books were delivered to the Rainelle Public Library: Darkness is My Only Companion: A Christian response to mental illness; Surviving Schizophrenia: A Family Manual, 6th Edition; Stop Walking on Eggshells, 2nd Edition; Troubled Minds: Mental Illness and the Church’s Mission. Other current magazines on Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety and Depression and Schizophrenia were delivered.

NAMI is a nationwide grassroots organization that is dedicated to the eradication of mental illness and improving the quality of life for all who are affected by these illnesses. Our support group meets on the third Thursday, 6 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, lower level on Court Street in Lewisburg. Next meeting is Feb. 19. Everyone is welcome. For Information, call Carol Jones, 304-445-7866 or Suzanne Williams, 304-646-1236.
