Nathan Linwood Sams, 44, of Lewisburg, passed away from a sudden and unexpected illness on Apr. 17, 2025. Born Aug. 25, 1980, in Ronceverte, he was the son of Orville Linwood and Sandra Ann Lehrke Sams.

Nathan dedicated the last 30 years of his life to the field of medicine. His career began at the young age of fifteen, working after school and sometimes on Saturdays. Over time, he rose to the position of Office Manager, serving at both Alderson Family Medicine and the office of Dr. Debra Sams. In addition to his managerial duties, he also took after-hours calls for two medical practices in Fairlea.

Beyond his professional commitments, Nathan was a passionate advocate for children. He worked with the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and tirelessly supported the Children’s Shelter in Rupert, providing care and comfort to abused and frightened children. Nathan’s life was marked by his open heart and welcoming home. He was a giver in every sense of the word, and his presence was a true gift to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

Nathan is survived by his parents, his son Dravin Allen Ambler, his brother Jared Sams (Christi), nieces Jaci and Madelyn, nephew Nicholas, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Mike Teubert officiating. Visitation will take place from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Children’s Home Society of WV, 9579 Seneca Trail South, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or online at https://childhswv.org/donate/.

The online guestbook can be signed at www.morganfh.net. Arrangements are entrusted to Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV.
