Nancy Lee Cloude Sheppard

Alderson-Nancy Lee Cloude Sheppard, 76, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Peyton Hospice House, Fairlea, following a short illness.

Born Aug. 27, 1938, in Luray, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Sarah Virginia Hackley Cloude.

In to addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Eugene Sheppard, Jr., and Tony Curtis Sheppard; brother, Michael Stephen Cloude; sister, Judy Ann Odom; nephew, William Odom, Jr.; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

Mrs. Sheppard began her career in 1976 at the first National Bank in Alderson, and then Greenbrier Valley National Bank, and retired as a bookkeeper in 2001 from, City National Bank, Alderson, after 25 years of service. She was a 1956 graduate of Woodstock High School, Woodstock, VA, and was of the Protestant faith. She was a former member of the Alderson Woman’s Club, enjoyed bowling and was at one time a member of a bowling league in Fairlea, and she loved animals. Mrs. Sheppard was an avid supporter of many worthy causes that were dear to her heart, but most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Robert Eugene “Bob” Sheppard of Alderson; granddaughter, Lindsey Nicole Sheppard of Oak Hill; two aunts, Joanne Nunez of Williamsburg, VA, and Anna Belle Campbell of Amherst, VA; two sisters-in-law, Linda Guss and husband Steve of Baldwin City, KS, and Marlene Cloude of Jackson, MO; nephew, Colby L. Cloude and wife Lauren of Massapequa, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor Jonathan Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call Friday, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
