Last month the Meadow River Valley Rotary Club held a fundraising dinner at the Meadow River Valley Early Childhood Learning (Marvel) Center cafeteria. Hors d’oeuvres and dinner were prepared by the Greenbrier West Culinary Arts Program, with Fruits of Labor providing an additional dessert.

The dinner raised $2,448.15 from ticket sales and program ads. The club donated $678.50 to the Marvel Center to support its early childhood development work and $723.50 to the Greenbrier West Culinary Program, which prepares local high school students for a career in the culinary industry.

The remaining $1,051.65 will be used by the Rotary Club to help fund a Vocational Education Scholarship at New River Community and Technical College. This scholarship will go to a student residing in the Meadow River Valley who has demonstrated a commitment to completing their training for certification or licensure in a vocational field. The student must be in the second year of a 2-year program or the second semester of a one-year program. The scholarship can be used at any New River Community and Technical College campus or training center. More information to come.
