The Mountain Resource Conservation and Development (Mtn. RC&D) is currently accepting project applications grants for the 2023-2024 year. Grants are provided to local organizations that promote education and conservation in the region.

The Mtn. RC&D’s mission is to maintain environmental quality and increase community development opportunities in southern West Virginia. The Mtn. RC&D serves Braxton, Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, Webster, and Wyoming counties of West Virginia.
The group meets its mission by funding local initiatives by grassroots, community, or nonprofit groups that focus on achieving environmental conservation through projects. Past projects receiving financial assistance have included educational programs for watershed and conservation groups, stream bank restoration, park and recreation development, environmental clean-ups, and many others.
A simple, online project application is available at www.mtnrcd.com/projects/. Applications are due by Mar. 6. Grant awards are on a reimbursement basis; funds typically range $500 to $3,000 per project.
Additional information is available at www.mtnrcd.com, or by contacting your county RC&D representatives. A list of board members is available here: www.mtnrcd.com/board-of-directors/. Interested individuals can also contact info@mtnrcd.com
