Got a picture of that big buck or fish you got this season? Or maybe a beautiful sunset or trees changing color in the fall? Or a mountain stream in the spring?

If so, you may want to share that photo with residents of Monroe and surrounding counties in the Monroe Arts Alliance first annual Nature And Wildlife Photography Show.

Past Monroe County photography shows, mostly held during Farmer’s Day week, have been hugely popular. So the Arts Alliance wants to continue the tradition, but this time provide for hunters and those who enjoy fishing to display their successes as well.

Photos can be submitted now through Dec. 6. Informational brochures and entry forms may be picked up and photos may be submitted at the Monroe Tourism office (in the Monroe Health Center building in Union), the Monroe County Public Library and the Peterstown Library during business hours. The photos will be displayed Dec. 7 through 13 at the Union Senior Center for the public to enjoy with an awards ceremony and reception on Saturday, Dec. 13. at the Union Senior Center at 3 p.m.

Photography classes will include Woodlands and Landscapes, Hunting, Fishing, Wildlife and Farm Life. There will be first, second and third prizes as well as honorable mentions in each class. Best in Show and People’s Choice awards and awards presented by private sponsors will be available also.

The format for the photographs will be 8” by 10”, black and white or color, mounted on an 11” by 14” matte enclosed in a clear plastic cover. If needed, the Arts Alliance will provide the Matte and cover and mounting within for $5 per photo. Entry fees are $5 for all photos for those under 18 years of age and $10 for first photo and $5 for additional photos for adults. There is no limit to the number you may enter.

Contestants must be residents of Monroe County or surrounding areas and all the photos must originate in Monroe County.

Further Information, including rules and applications, is also available online at the MAA website, http://www.monroeartsalliance.org or by calling 304-772-3128.
