Monita Eleanor Shanaberger passed on Sept. 6, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.
Monita was born May 22, 1939, in Lewiston, Maine, to Emiliem and Germaine McGraw. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Don Shanaberger and a granddaughter, Ann Shanaberger.
Those left to honor her memory are daughter, Debra Ann (Ivan) Hanshew of Ansted, WV; son, Randy (Mary) Shanaberger of Midland, OH, sister, Ina (Jerry) Dufour of Lakeland, FL, and brother, Richard McGraw of Florida; grandchildren: Robert Shanaberger, Blanchester, OH, Jessica Shanaberger, Midland, OH; Ivan Hanshew II of Victor, WV, and Joshua Hanshew of Ansted, WV; great-grandchildren: Jakob Boggs, Makayla Hanshew, Hailey Hanshew, Joshua Hanshew, II, and Ivan Hanshew; best friend and husband Luther and Deborah Spence and those who she was like a Mother to: Ashley Lively and Tony White.
Monita loved the singer, Anne Murray, was a former cook at Ansted Center and owned a second-hand store for years in Ansted.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date by the family, conducted by Pastor Stuart Stover.
